Q: Does Patios Walks & Walls sell all materials needed to install a patio or wall?
A: Of course we do. We supply the pavers or the retaining wall materials, 46-D gravel, sand, paver edging, and 12” landscape spikes. We do not rent equipment, but we have great places to refer you to. We offer delivery to communities surrounding Columbus. We even sell patio and decor accessories, such as outdoor clocks, chimes, fountains, fire pits, art pieces, and iron work.

Q: How do I control weeds and loose sand on my paver patio?
A: Patios Walks & Walls has products to harden the sand between the paver joints. Loose sand and weeds are eliminated. In addition to hardening the sand, it also preserves the color of your pavers. Remember to wait to seal your patio a few months after installation.

Q: What is the white residue on the top of some pavers?
A: This is called efflorescence. Efflorescence is simply the result of the concrete pavers releasing salts. Water moving through the pavers carry the salts to the surface. When the water evaporates it leaves the white powder.

Q: How do I get rid of efflorescence?
A: Clean your pavers with a light duty concrete cleaner or an efflorescence remover. After the pavers are cleaned and dried, you should seal the pavers using one of our sealants. Efflorescence will stop on its own when the calcium hydroxide is expelled. This usually takes 2-3 months and you should put your first coat of sealant on your pavers at that time.

Q: What is the benefit of interlocking pavers or your Allan Block retaining wall blocks?
A: You will never see a crack running through a paver patio or across a paver walk. Design diversity is nearly endless with our great selection of colors and shapes. Allan Block retaining walls have hollow cores, which you fill with gravel. The hollow core allows easy mobility, drainage, and the ability to shift in our unpredictable Ohio weather. The blocks are interlocking and have a 6 degree set back for improved stability.

Q: What is the life span of a paver patio?
A: This all depends on the installation. The more care taken in the base preparation for the patio the better the results. Preparation includes excavating, leveling, and compaction of the 46-D gravel. A patio that is well installed can last 30 years.

Q. Can I use pavers over my old concrete patio?
A: Yes, if the concrete patio is in good condition. The base is very important and if the existing concrete is cracked or sunk the pavers will not look good. If your concrete pad has been freshly poured, we advise you to score the concrete as much as possible. This will help minimize shifting that will disturb the pavers. Patios Walks & Walls can not guarantee the concrete pad will not crack or shift and create a problem in the future.

We recommend that you use mortar or an adhesive on the border to keep the pavers from shifting.

Q: How do you repair a paver patio?
A: This is one of the greatest benefits of concrete pavers. If you need to remove any broken or oddly colored pavers all you will need are two flat head screw drivers. Take the two screw drivers and use them to pry up on two sides of the paver and pop it out. Replace the area with a different paver, and it is easy as that.

Q: Can you use these pavers for a driveway?
A: Yes, however a 6 inch foundation of compacted gravel is required to handle the weight of automobiles. We also recommend that instead of paver edging restraint you use a concrete toe with rebar.
